FBLA on Wink News

WINK NEWS FEATURE (Reporter: Rob Spicker; Producer: Anastasia Snetkova): FORT MYERS, Fla. Thousands of America’s future business leaders headed off to California in the summer of 2017 to compete in the 2017 National Leadership Conference, and a dozen students from Southwest Florida’s own Riverdale High School were there to match wits with the very best. Two of the students who competed, Miranda Sosa and Malia Williams, joined us in the studio (May 1, 2017) to tell us about the event and the school’s fundraising effort that helped to make it all happen." ~ Wink News, www.WinkNews.com

Riverdale FBLA advances to Nationals

3/27/17: Riverdale FBLA brought home wins, advanced to Nationals

Riverdale sophomores swept 2017 FBLA State Competition, with one senior win, and in most cases, they beat Florida juniors and seniors across Florida (4,000 of them!) Thanks to everyone who taught them and supported them along the way. Special thanks to a great coach, Ryan White, and two of the best chaperones in the world, Joan Starr and Ella Grady. Florida FBLA knew Riverdale was in the house!

FBLA State 2016 - RHS Results

Our students had their best showing ever at the 2016 FBLA State Competition amongst 4,000 students. They were recognized for Electronic Career Portfolio, Intro to Parliamentary Procedure, Business Calculations, Business Financial Plan Team, Job Interview, Public Service Team, and Intro to Busines Procedures... and students represented Florida at the National competition in the summer of 2016. Way to go, Raiders!

Riverdale was also recognized as a Gold Seal Chapter, and was honored for contributions to the March of Dimes and American Cancer Society.

This wouldn’t have happened without the support of Ryan White, then the FBLA assistant adviser, who gave one of our students a promise card based on last year’s keynote speaker that he would coach a state win. Joan Starr and former Raider Ella Grady were the best chaperones and gave so much support to our 38 students as they navigated winning, losing, and being Raiders who chose success. Also, please congratulate Steele Spinosa for being a president who truly epitomizes leadership.

2016 DISTRICT COMPETITION RESULTS

Magic happens when we all pull together and Riverdale excelled at the FBLA District Leadership Conference on January 26, 2016. We had 40 first place wins, 13 second place, and 10 third place wins. This was packaged with a great motivational speaker in Jeff Becker, job tips from Brooke Weinberg (then FBLA Advisor, Ileane Flores' daughter), a dazzling organizational triumph by Ryan White and a lot of judges. Our young adults were the real stars.

Thanks to Cathleen Morgan, Cindy Sentes and her husband, Wayne Adams, Beverly Spinosa, Richard Siggs, Mary Ellen, Chris Stephens, Andrina Denison, Mrs. M&M, Kristen Furbay, Ruben Ruiz, Charlie Flores, Beverly Blalock and husband, the Business Department, Eric Greenblatt, Ms. Ludwig, John Roszell, Ms. Joan Starr, and Mr. Cook. The IB docents were awesome. Huge thanks to our teachers and staff who mentored, coached, encouraged and supported us.
