Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica

Foundation of Capitulo Munoz Rivera

The Riverdale High School Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica was founded by Sr. Pedrera in 2000. The chapter is called Capitulo Munoz Rivera. In 2006 the chapter was re-established by Mr. Louis Lillard. There are more than 200 current members from all levels of Spanish. The chapter holds several events per year including three or four culinary events, participation in the Homecoming Parade, and initiation of new members.

Mandatory Participation

Participation of all members in the annual Lee County Foreign Language Fair is mandatory or the member is subject to loss of ALL accumulated points and must start over again.

Points and Activities

All members are to keep tabs on any points they accumulate through participating in the above activities. The end of year assessment of points for Seniors who want either a cord or a stole occurs in April. Monthly reports will be given at meetings of the progress of points. 

Attendance of Meetings

All members are strongly urged to attend meetings so they are apprised of events, changes, and advances in procedures. Also, so members are aware of all activities.

Senior Requirements

All seniors are required to attend a meeting in early March, whereby they verify the points they have acquired to earn for either one of the two above awards.

Fundraisers

Fundraisers will be held for members to earn the funds needed to cover costs of t-shirts, cords, and stoles. Anyone who does not earn sufficient funds to cover the cost of purchasing the above items will be required to purchase them. 

Financial Obligations

Sufficient opportunity will be provided for students to earn their funds through fundraisers. However, if the student does not participate, or does not raise enough, they are responsible for the differences.
