Newsweek Magazine recently released their list of America’s Best High Schools for 2013, giving a Lee County high school cause for celebration. Riverdale High School made the cut for this impressive list. To determine a school’s rank and inclusion on the list, Newsweek evaluated schools based on six components: graduation rate, college acceptance rate, the number of AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student, average SAT/ACT scores, average AP/IB/AICE scores, and percent of students enrolled in at least one AP/IB/AICE course. Out of just 2,000 schools included nationwide, Riverdale High School is ranked number 1969. Riverdale High School Principal Jerry Demming was elated about his school’s accomplishment. He shared, “The faculty and staff at Riverdale High School are extremely proud of this honor. Our motto is ‘Success is a Choice’ and receiving this honor shows that the students, faculty and staff are choosing to be successful. This honor motivates us to achieve an even higher level of success. ‘It is a Great Time to be Raider!!’” Congratulations to the students and staff of both schools for being recognized on this elite national list.
